About Real Burg

Real Burg is a community board built for Fredericksburg, VA. No algorithms. No ads. No data harvesting. Just locals talking to locals.

Why this exists

Every town needs a place where people can speak freely without a corporation deciding what you see. Social media became a machine that profits off your attention and sells your data. We wanted something different for the Burg.

This is that something. A wall where your neighbors post what matters to them — no feed manipulation, no promoted content, no engagement tricks.

What we don't do

• We don't track you. No analytics, no cookies following you around the internet, no pixel trackers. You visit, you read, you leave. That's it.
• We don't sell your data. We don't collect it in the first place. There's nothing to sell.
• We don't require accounts. Post anonymously or use a display name. Your identity is yours to share or keep.
• We don't manipulate your feed. Posts show up in order. Newest first. No algorithm deciding what you should care about.
• We don't share with third parties. Your posts live here, not in some data broker's warehouse.

How it works

Write a post. Pick a topic if you want. Set a 4-digit PIN so you can edit or delete your post later. That PIN is hashed before it ever leaves your browser — we never see it, we never store it in plain text.

Reply to posts. React to them. That's the whole system. No followers, no likes count as social currency, no verification badges. Everyone's voice carries the same weight.

Real Burg is built by people who live here, for people who live here. Fredericksburg has a voice — loud, opinionated, funny, real. This is just a place to hear it without the noise.
